About Us
Northbrook Symphony Orchestra (NSO) has presented classical music concerts continually since 1980, making it one of the North Shore's longest-running professional orchestras. Under Music Director Mina Zikri, the NSO's mission is to provide high-quality programs of symphonic music that enrich our listeners' lives and engage the next generation of audiences.
Each season (October through June) features 4-5 concerts performed at the Sheely Center for the Performing Arts in Northbrook, bringing professional-caliber orchestral music to the community. The NSO is committed to accessibility and arts education: we offer complimentary tickets for youth, partner with local schools to bring students to concerts, and collect musical instruments to donate to schools so that no child faces a financial barrier to learning music.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the NSO relies on the generosity of donors, subscribers, and patrons to continue providing high-quality orchestral music at a time when many area orchestras are closing their doors. We proudly serve Northbrook and the greater North Shore community.
